Blue Hen tennis teams sweep Drexel 7-0, 7-0

9:08 a.m., April 7, 2005--The University of Delaware tennis teams swept host Drexel University 7-0, 7-0 in Colonial Athletic Association matches played Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia.

In men's singles action, UD’s John Tully won his 55th career match and is now two wins away from the University record for career wins currently held by Jon Zolin. Tully, playing No. 1 singles, defeated Walid El Jebbari 6-2, 7-6.

Also recording wins in men's singles for UD were Adam Liebman at No. 2, Josh Ditman at No. 3, Jesse Carl at No. 4, Robert Wirth at No. 5 and Jason Hanschman at No. 6.

In men's doubles action, UD earned wins at No. 1 by Tully and Wirth, at No. 2 by Jesse Carl and Hanschman and at No. 3 by Sammy Carl and Phillip Wayne.

In women's singles, UD’s Susan Pollack defeated Hana Stecova 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1. Also recording wins for the Hens were Liz Perlow at No. 2, Sari Shuster at No. 3, Alexa Dragonette at No. 4, Katie Miller at No. 5 and Brittany Barsky at No. 6.

In women's doubles action, UD earned wins at No. 1 by Pollack and Dragonette, at No. 2 by Miller and Barsky and at No. 3 by Perlow and Shuster.

With the victory, the UD women’s team improved to 12-4 on the season. The men’s team improved to 9-3.

Both UD teams will return to action with a CAA match against the University of North Carolina Wilmington on Friday afternoon, April 8, on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
