Delaware tennis teams sweep Lafayette College

9:41 a.m., March 22, 2005--The University of Delaware tennis teams swept host Lafayette College in matches played Monday afternoon in Easton, Pa. The UD women’s team won 5-1, and the men’s team won 4-3 in a hard-fought contest.

The UD women’s team captured five of the six singles matches. The three doubles matches were not contested because the Fightin’ Blue Hens had already clinched the victory.

Winning for the Hens were Susan Pollack at No. 1, Liz Perlow at No. 2, Sari Shuster at No. 3, Alexis Dragonette at No. 4 and Brittany Barsky at No. 5.

In men's play, the teams split the six singles matches, but UD picked up the doubles point. Winning singles matches for the Hens were Josh Ditman at No. 3, Jason Hanschman at No. 5 and Jon Schwartz at No. 6.

In doubles play, UD got wins from its No. 2 team of Jesse Carl and Hanschman and its No. 3 team of Sammy Carl and Philip Wayne.

Both UD teams will be in action against Bucknell University on Wednesday, March 23, at the Delaware Field House Tennis Courts.
