Delaware women’s tennis defeats Loyola College

9:44 a.m., March 17, 2005--The University of Delaware women's tennis team took five of six singles matches and won all three doubles matches to post a 6-1 victory over Loyola College of Maryland on Wednesday afternoon at UD.

Susan Pollack improved to 13-3 at No. 1 singles by posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Amy Nitch to lead the Fightin’ Blue Hens, who improved to 8-1 this year.

UD’s Liz Perlow shut out Jessica Liberatore 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 to improve to 14-2 on the season, while Sari Shuster posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Meagan McKenna at No. 3 to improve to 12-3.

Alexa Dragonette defeated Christi Lazar 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, and Brittany Barsky recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win over Stefanie Clay at No. 6.

Pollack and Shuster won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, Dragonette and Jamie deGraffenreid won 9-7 at No. 2 doubles, and Katie Miller and Barsky won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens will return to action against Lafayette College at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, in Easton, Pa.
