Moore, Young selected NSCA All-Americans

Mark Moore
11:30 a.m., May 31, 2005--University of Delaware seniors Mark Moore, a linebacker on the football team, and Tiffany Young, a forward on the women’s basketball team, have been named All-Americans by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Moore concluded an outstanding career with the Fightin’ Blue Hens in 2004, helping lead the team to a 9-4 record, its second straight Atlantic 10 Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division I-AA playoff quarterfinals. As a junior, Moore was a starter for the Blue Hens' 2003 NCAA I-AA national championship team that posted a 15-1 record.

A three-time Atlantic 10 Academic Honor Roll recipient and a two-time College Sports Information Directors of America District 2 All-Academic selection as a biology major, Moore also earned the team's sportsmanship award in 2005.

"Mark is an individual who is willing to do whatever it takes to become successful," Russell Barbarino, the former UD strength and conditioning coach who recently accepted a position at Tulane University in New Orleans, said. "He is a true leader with his intense work ethic."

Tiffany Young
Young helped lead the UD women's basketball team to another outstanding season in 2004-05 as the squad went 25-6, captured the Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship and earned a berth in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

Young earned third team All-CAA honors her senior season after ranking second on the team in both scoring (11.6 points per game) and rebounding (6.2 per game). A nursing major, she earned the team's sportsmanship award and was recognized as the most improved player.

"A quiet-spoken, fierce competitor who leads by example is how Tiffany's teammates characterized her," Barbarino said. "What a fine example she has been. She has been one of the strongest female athletes at the University of Delaware."
