Stem cell use in eye care seminar Friday

3:21 p.m., June 16, 2005--“Molecular and Cellular Approaches to Understand and Treat Some Eye Diseases,” a seminar by Dorairajan Balasubramanian, visiting professor and director of research at the L. V. Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India, is set for 2 p.m., Friday, June 17, in 318 Wolf Hall.

Balasubramanian will discuss results from recent clinical trials in India using stem cells to treat corneal diseases in humans. After the seminar, he will meet with audience members with experience in biotechnology, biology and chemistry who are interested in pursuing career opportunities in India.

The free seminar, which is sponsored by UD’s Department of Biological Sciences and will be preceded by a small reception at 1:30 p.m., is open to the public. For more information, call (302) 831-1841.
