Blue Hen softball team takes two at Drexel

9:51 a.m., April 18, 2005--The University of Delaware softball team won two of three games in a weekend Colonial Athletic Association series at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens swept a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 3-2 and 2-1, then fell 5-1 in a single game on Sunday.

UD is now 20-18 overall and 5-7 in the CAA. The Hens will host Villanova University in a doubleheader, beginning at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 20.

Winning pitchers for the Hens in Saturday’s sweep were sophomore Carolynne Sloat, who worked 10 innings, and senior Jenn Joseph. Freshman second baseman Allison Borchers hit a home run in the first game and had a pair of hits in the second. Joseph doubled and scored a run in the second game.

Sloat took the loss on Sunday. The Hens got two hits each from Michelle Plant and Barbara Traynor.
