UD’s Caltha Seymour fifth in hammer throw

12:23 p.m., July 11, 2005--Competing for the Jamaican national team, University of Delaware graduate Caltha Seymour finished fifth in the women’s hammer throw in the XX Central American and Caribbean Senior Track and Field Championships held Saturday at Thomas Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Seymour threw the hammer 57.69 meters, with the top four finishers all surpassing the previous CAC Championships record of 58.68 meters. Candice Scott of Trinidad and Tobago won the event with a throw of 67.44 meters.

Seymour was a member of the UD women’s track and field team and graduated in 2000.
