UD’s Doletzky, Turner selected by US Rowing

8:55 a.m., June 14, 2005--Two members of the University of Delaware women’s rowing team, Meghan Doletzky and Melanie Turner, have been selected to participate in US Rowing national team developmental camps this summer.

This is the first time UD scholar-athletes have been invited to attend the training camps. “I’m very excited for Meghan and Melanie,” UD Head Coach Laura Slice said. “This is a huge honor for these two athletes and an honor for our rowing program at Delaware.”

Doletzky, a native of Grosse Point, Mich., who recently completed her freshman year with the Fightin’ Blue Hens, will attend camp at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Turner, a native of Woodbridge, Va., who completed her sophomore season, will attend camp at the University of Wisconsin camp in Madison.

Doletzky competed in six events during the 2005 season and was a member of the crew of the novice eights boat that capture the Colonial Athletic Association championship. Turner competed in all seven events as a member of the crew of the varsity eights boat that finished second in the CAA championship race.
