9:38 a.m., May 27, 2005--The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association has named University of Delaware women's rowing standouts Lane Kohl and Laura Beaufort national scholar-athletes.

Kohl, a junior, and Beaufort, a sophomore, were among 142 scholar-athletes from 49 NCAA Division I schools honored for their efforts during the 2004-05 season. To be eligible, scholar-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Lane Kohl
Kohl, who was named to the team for the second straight year, competed in all seven varsity eights races for the Fightin’ Blue Hens this spring, leading the team to a second-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association championships and second-place finishes in dual competitions at Barry University and the University of North Carolina. She is majoring in exercise physiology with a minor in strength and conditioning, and has a 3.823 grade point average.

Beaufort also competed in all seven varsity eights races for the Hens this spring. As a freshman in 2004, she helped the UD novice eights boat capture the CAA title. She is majoring in computer science and political science with a minor in history, and has a 3.635 grade point average.
