UD volleyball’s Gibson CAA Rookie of Week

UD’s Kelly Gibson is the CAA Rookie of the Week.

9:41 a.m., Oct. 18, 2005--University of Delaware freshman volleyball player Kelly Gibson has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.

Gibson, who is from Taos, N.M., helped the Fightin’ Blue Hens win four straight games. She had 20 kills and 11 digs in a 3-0 victory over the University of North Carolina Wilmington on Friday and nine kills and nine digs in a 3-0 loss to Georgia State University on Sunday.

Gibson ranks second on the team in kills per game (2.82) and digs per game (2.64).

UD is 9-14 overall and 5-6 in the CAA. The Hens will play two CAA matches this weekend at Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building, meeting Virginia Commonwealth University at 7 p.m., Friday, and the College of William & Mary at 7 p.m., Saturday.
