Delawares Richardson Freshman All-American
Richardson was one of 79 NCAA Division I players named to the team. UD was last represented on the team in 2000, when pitcher Jason Vincent and catcher John Schneider were honored. Richardson, a first-year transfer from the College of Charleston, was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie team. He led the team with a .314 batting average, the first freshman to lead the Fightin Blue Hens in hitting since Andy Donatelli in 1982. Richardson had 15 multiple-hit games. Richardson was second on the team with seven home runs and also had 29 runs batted in, 14 doubles and 35 runs scored. He stole 13 bases in 14 attempts, committed just three errors in 89 chances in the field and made four appearances as a relief pitcher. Richardson was one of two CAA players to earn a spot on the team, joining Virginia Commonwealth University shortstop Sergio Miranda, who was named the CAA Rookie of the Year.
