Blue Hens’ Tom Parks named I-AA All-American

Tom Parks
4:03 p.m., July 28, 2005--University of Delaware senior defensive tackle Tom Parks has picked up a second preseason honor, being named first team All-American by the I-AA.org web site, which is devoted to NCAA Division I-AA football. Parks earlier was named to the Sports Network All-America team.

Parks is coming off an outstanding junior season in which he earned third team All-American honors from both the Associated Press and the Sports Network. Also, he was named first team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and first team All-Atlantic 10.

Parks finished eighth on the team with 48 tackles, including 29 solo stops, and led the Fightin’ Blue Hens with 15.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

UD will participate in the annual Atlantic 10 Conference football media day on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, R.I. The Hens will open pre-season drills Friday, Aug. 12, with media day at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at Delaware Stadium.

UD will open the season against Lehigh University at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium.
