Ex-Hen Matt Nagy lifts AFL’s Georgia Force

4:21 p.m., May 10, 2005--Former University of Delaware quarterback Matt Nagy threw five touchdown passes to lead the Georgia Force to a 52-40 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm in Arena Football League action on Sunday. With the victory, the Force clinches first place in the Southern Division.

Nagy completed 24 of 37 passes for 269 yards for the Force, which improved to 10-4 and became the first team in the league to lock up a playoff berth.

Currently, Nagy is the fourth-rated quarterback in the AFL. He has completed 223 of 334 passes for 2,753 yards and 55 touchdowns.

Jamin Elliott, the former Fightin’ Blue Hens wide receiver, had a big catch for the Cologne Centurions in a 23-17 victory over the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe action on Sunday.

Elliott hauled in a 56-yard reception from quarterback Kevin Thompson that, three plays later, resulted in a touchdown for Cologne. On the day, Elliott had five catches for 85 yards and returned one kickoff for 26 yards.

Elliott was allocated to NFL Europe by the Chicago Bears. He is one of two UD players in NFL Europe, the other being quarterback Andy Hall, currently on the injured reserve list with the Rhein Fire. Hall was allocated to the league by the Philadelphia Eagles.
