Blue Hen men’s soccer nets three, ties Towson

Drew Majerick
3 p.m., Oct. 24, 2005--Scoring three goals in a game for the first time this season, the University of Delaware men’s soccer team battled Towson University to a 3-3 tie in a Colonial Athletic Association match played Sunday afternoon at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens broke on top 2-0 with a pair of first-half goals, the first by sophomore Drew Majerick at 13:03 off a restart and the second by senior Justin Arpan, who found the net after a scrum inside the box.

Towson stormed back in the second half with three straight goals for a 3-2 lead, however, the Hens tied the game when junior Anthony Talarico scored on an assist by Majerick.

UD freshmen goalkeepers Taylor Thames and Chris Jones split the match, and had four saves each.

Prior to the match, the Hens honored seniors Sal Tadjalli and Arpan, each playing in their final home game.

UD lost an earlier CAA home match, falling 1-0 to George Mason University. Jones had two saves.

The Hens are now 1-10-4 overall and 0-6-2 in the CAA. They will play their last three games on the road, visiting the University of North Carolina Wilmington on Friday, Georgia State University on Sunday and Drexel University on Thursday, Nov. 3.
