Delaware men’s lacrosse gains national ranking

9:45 a.m., April 6, 2005--The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team is ranked No. 17 in the latest U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll for NCAA Division I.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens, 7-3 following Saturday’s 15-11 victory over Sacred Heart University, jumped into the top 20 for the first time this season. They lead three Colonial Athletic Association teams in the poll, with Towson University ranked No. 18 and Hofstra University ranked No. 19.

UD will host Hofstra in a key CAA game at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at Rullo Stadium.

Johns Hopkins University is atop the poll, followed by Duke University, the University of Virginia, the U.S. Military Academy and Georgetown University, which narrowly defeated UD 9-8 on March 16.
