UD’s Jordan Hall
1:50 p.m., May 2, 2005--The host University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team defeated St. John’s University 13-6 on Saturday in a tune up for its Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament semifinal game to be played Wednesday evening at Rullo Stadium.

The top seeded Fightin’ Blue Hens (10-4) will host Hofstra University, with the opening face-off at 7 p.m. If the Hens advance, they will face the winner of the game between Towson University and Villanova University at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at Rullo Stadium, for the CAA title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division I tournament.

Against St. John’s, UD scored seven goals in the second quarter and five in the fourth for the win. Sophomore midfielder Jordan Hall scored five goals, and senior attackmen Dave Powers and Andy Hipple scored two goals each for the Hens.

Midfielder Alex Smith won 14 of 21 face-offs, and goalkeeper Chris Collins had eight saves.

A crowd of 1,400 turned out for the game, during which the Hens celebrated both Senior Night and Milt Roberts Night. Roberts is the former UD head coach who is known as the father of men’s lacrosse in the state.
