UD men’s lacrosse defeats Villanova

9:53 a.m., April 18, 2005--The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team defeated archrival Villanova University 12-5 in an important Colonial Athletic Association contest played Saturday night at Villanova Stadium.

With the victory, the Fightin’ Blue Hens improved to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the CAA, where they are tied for first place with Towson University and Hofstra University.

UD will next face Drexel University at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, in Philadelphia.

In Saturday’s victory over Villanova, UD was led by Dan Deckelbaum, who scored three goals, and Jordan Hall, Vincent Giordano and Joe Trentzsch, who scored two goals apiece. Also scoring for the Hens were Cam Howard, Andy Hipple and Greg Grevey.

Alex Smith won 10 of 14 face-offs, and goalkeeper Chris Collins had seven saves.
