Delaware men’s lacrosse defeats Manhattan 9-8

9:47 a.m., March 21, 2005--The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team defeated Manhattan College 9-8 in a game played Saturday afternoon at Rullo Stadium.

With the victory, the Fightin’ Blue Hens improved to 5-3 as they prepare to open Colonial Athletic Association play with a game against No. 13-ranked Towson University at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at Rullo Stadium. Towson is 4-2 after a 14-3 loss to the University of Virginia.

In Saturday’s victory, UD was led by sophomore midfielder Jordan Hall, who had two goals and two assists. Senior midfielder Micardo Celicourt had two goals, and sophomore attackman Cam Howard had two assists.

UD goalkeeper Chris Collins had 12 saves, including one on the final play of the game to preserve the victory, and midfielder Alex Smith won 17 of 20 face-offs.
