Hens’ Menchaca is named CAA Rookie of the Week

9:21 a.m., March 10, 2005--University of Delaware freshman outfielder Brandon Menchaca has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.

In two consecutive starts against the University of Massachusetts, Menchaca blasted lead off home runs. He had four hits in seven trips to the plate with three runs scored and three runs batted in.

Weather permitting, the Fightin’ Blue Hens will face Stony Brook (N.Y.) University in a doubleheader beginning at noon, Saturday, March 12, at Bob Hannah Stadium. A single game against Stony Brook is scheduled at noon, Sunday.
