Atlantic 10 announces football media day

4:04 p.m., July 28, 2005--The Atlantic 10 Conference will hold its annual football preseason media day on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, R.I.

Conference officials will announce the preseason poll for the two divisions based on the votes of coaches and members of the media. Also, they will announce the preseason All-Conference team.

The University of Delaware went 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference in 2004, capturing a share of the Atlantic 10 championship for the second consecutive season.

Head Coach K.C. Keeler and the Fightin’ Blue Hens also advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA championship tournament, where they reached the quarterfinals before falling to conference rival the College of William and Mary.

In 2003, the Hens went 15-1, won a share of the conference title and won the national championship.

UD will open pre-season drills on Friday, Aug. 12, with football media day set for 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at Delaware Stadium.

The 2005 season will open with a game at Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, against Lehigh University of the Patriot League.
