UD’s McLister shoots 149 in U.S. Amateur

UD’s Joe McLister shot a 149 in the U.S. Amateur.

3 p.m., Aug. 24, 2005--University of Delaware golfer Joe McLister shot a 149 to finish nine over par and in 93rd place at the U.S. Amateur Championship, being played this week at Merion Golf Club and Philadelphia Country Club.

McLister, a junior captain for the Fightin’ Blue Hens, was one of three Colonial Athletic Association golfers in the tournament. He joined Joe Scheffres of James Madison University, who shot 147, and Ben Taylor of Georgia State University, who shot 153.

None of the CAA golfers made the cut to continue in the tournament’s match play round, which begins today.
