Hen men’s basketball announces awards

11:18 a.m., April 27, 2005--Junior forward Harding Nana was named the Most Valuable Player and the top rebounder for the University of Delaware men’s basketball team during an awards banquet, held Tuesday night at the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center.

Nana led both the Fightin’ Blue Hens and the Colonial Athletic Association with 18.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, and was one of just six players in NCAA Division I to lead his conference in scoring and rebounding.

Senior point guard Mike Slattery earned the Assist Award after leading the Hens with 168 assists. Slattery was ranked 11th in NCAA Division I with 6.5 assists per game and led the CAA in assists for three straight seasons. He had 607 career assists, second all-time at UD and third in conference history.

Slattery also earned the Blue Hen Basketball Club's Team Award for his overall contributions.

Senior forward Robin Wentt, who averaged 4.1 points and 3.5 rebounds while appearing in all but one game this season, was given the Coaches Award.

The Most Improved Award went to junior guard Andrew Washington, who finished second on the team with 13.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Washington ranked among the CAA leaders in points per game, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and steals per game.
