Hofstra shuts down UD in CAA men’s lax

1:37 p.m., April 11, 2005--In a battle of NCAA Division I top 20 teams, Hofstra University defeated the University of Delaware 13-3 in a Colonial Athletic Association contest played Saturday night at Rullo Stadium.

With the loss, the Fightin’ Blue Hens fell to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the CAA. The Hens entered the game ranked No. 17 nationally and Hofstra entered ranked No. 19.

UD will try to get back on track when it plays an important conference game at Villanova University at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 16.

Hofstra jumped out to an early 5-0 lead to take command of the game. The Hens got goals from Jordan Hall, who had a pair, and Joe Trentzsch. Goalkeeper Chris Collins had seven saves and Alex Smith won 15 of 18 face-offs.
