Hens ascend to No. 6 in Sports Network poll

3:45 p.m., Sept. 12, 2005--There was a major reshuffling in the Sports Network NCAA Division I-AA football poll this week, with the University of Delaware climbing four spots to No. 6 and receiving four first-place votes.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens were ranked No. 10 before their stirring 34-33 overtime victory over Lehigh University, which fell from No. 14 to No. 16.

Defending national champion James Madison University dropped out of the No. 1 spot after a loss to Coastal Carolina University, and Furman University fell out of the No. 2 spot after a loss to Western Carolina University.

Southern Illinois University is the new No. 1 team, followed by Western Kentucky, New Hampshire, Montana, Eastern Washington and UD. Rounding out the top 10 are the College of William & Mary, James Madison, Northern Iowa and Furman.

In addition to New Hampshire, UD, William & Mary and James Madison, two other Atlantic 10 Conference teams are ranked in the top 25 with Hofstra at No. 23 and Massachusetts at No. 25.
