Hens fall to Old Dominion For Old Dominion, it was the 14th consecutive CAA championship and came largely because of the strong play of senior guard Shareese Grant, who scored 35 points. With the win, the Monarchs earned the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA championship tournament. With the loss, the 25-5 Fightin Blue Hens, who defeated Old Dominion twice during the regular season and captured the regular season title, must now wait to see if they get either an NCAA at-large invitation or a trip to the Womens National Invitation Tournament. Leading the Hens were senior forwards Tiffany Young, who had 23 points and nine rebounds, and Tiara Malcom, who had 19 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore guard Tyresa Smith, who had 18 points and eight rebounds. The teams went into overtime tied 68-68. Article by Neil Thomas To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
