Delawares Haugabrook joins Hamilton Ti-Cats
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to come out compete and hopefully help the team, Haugabrook told the Hamilton Spectator newspaper. I'll play defensive back, run back kicks or even play wide receiver. Whatever I can do to help the team win, I'll do it." Greg Marshall, head coach of the Tiger-Cats, who have opened the season 0-8, said the team has had interest in Haugabrook for some time. "He played in the East West Shrine game and played really well," Marshall told the Spectator. "He's been on our list for awhile. We wanted to sign him before, but he was picked up by the Titans." In other news involving former UD football players, quarterback Andy Hall had a strong outing for the Philadelphia Eagles in their 20-14 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in NFL preseason action on Saturday night in Baltimore. Hall, playing for much of the fourth quarter, threw four completions in seven attempts for 55 yards. He also ran the ball twice for a total of 15 yards. Hall, who led UD to the 2003 NCAA Division I-AA championship, guided the Eagles on a drive that resulted in a field goal. On the other side of the field was former UD running back Keith Burnell, who is fighting to make the Ravens roster. Fightin Blue Hens linebacker Mondoe Davis, who had impressed New York Jets coaches through the preseason, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his knee in a 28-21 victory over the Minnesota Vikings and will be out for the season. UD offensive lineman Jason Nerys is a teammate of Davis on the Jets. Defensive lineman Joe Minucci saw playing time for the Tennessee Titans in their 24-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Another former Hen defensive lineman, Shawn Johnson, also has been in training camp with the Titans. Mike Adams played defensive back for the San Francisco 49ers in their 26-21 loss to the Denver Broncos. The team was shaken by the sudden death of offensive lineman Thomas Herrion after the game. Jamin Elliott is with the Washington Redskins, who broke camp following a 24-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
