Ellison leads Blue Hens in Pirate golf tourney

10:10 a.m., Oct. 20, 2005--With Tommy Ellison leading the way, the University of Delaware golf team shot a three-round total of 912 to finish ninth out of 14 teams at East Carolina University’s 2005 Pirate Fall Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at the Bradford Creek Golf Course in Greenville, N.C.

Ellison paced the Fightin’ Blue Hens with scores of 71 and 73 on Monday and 73 on Tuesday to finish at 217, one over par.

Also for the Hens, Joe McLister shot 226 and finished tied for 29th, Steve Boerner shot 233 and finished 48th, J.J. Oakley shot 237 and finished 59th and Jeff Griest shot 242 and finished 68th.

East Carolina won the event and Pirate teammates Robin Smith and Chris Ault shot 211 to share the individual title.

UD will conclude its fall season Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 when the Hens compete in the Old Dominion Invitational at Sea Scape Golf Course in Nags Head, N.C.
