Hen golf team 8th in CAA championships

10:25 a.m., April 18, 2005--The University of Delaware golf team finished eighth in the Colonial Athletic Association championships played at Homestead in Hot Spring, Va. Sophomore Joe McLister was UD’s top individual player, shooting 230 to finish in a tie for 23rd place.

Also for the Fightin’ Blue Hens, senior Steve Banks shot 237 to tie for 32nd, senior Dan Spiker and sophomore Josh Williamowsky shot 239 to tie for 34th and freshman Britt Murdoch shot 249 to tie for 48th.

The University of North Carolina Wilmington captured its second straight team title and earned the automatic berth to the NCAA regional championships. The Seahawks finished 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Towson University.

UD will close out its season May 1-2 when the Hens host the annual Scotty Duncan Memorial Tournament at Back Creek Country Club in Middletown.
