UD golf team finishes 11th at Lexus tourney

11:36 a.m., March 16, 2005--The University of Delaware golf team opened its spring season with an 11th-place finish at the Lexus Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Hammock Bay Country Club in Naples, Fla.

The tournament, which was won by St. Mary’s College of California, included some of the top teams in NCAA Division I.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens were led by sophomore Joe McLister, who shot rounds of 79, 77 and 76 to finish at 232 and in a tie for 45th place.

Also for the Hens, J.J. Oakley finished 52nd, Dan Spiker 55th, Britt Murdoch 58th and Mike Strasburg 60th.

UD will return to action on Monday, March 21, in the Goldey Beacom College Invitational at Hartefeld Golf Club in Avondale, Pa.
