UD violinist Xiang Gao to perform in Estonia
The only American violinist invited to take part in the festival, Gao will perform the violin concerto in D major by Tubin, under the direction of the orchestra’s principal conductor, Nikolai Aleksejev, who also is associate conductor of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic in Russia. Other artists and ensembles performing at the festival include Estonian-American conductor Paavo Jarvi, music director of the Cincinnati Symphony, the Helsinki Philharmonic, Stockholm Philharmonic and American pianist Per Tengstrand. Gao came to UD in 2001 and became a founding member and the artistic director of the acclaimed University of Delaware "Master Players Chamber Series."
