Maryland field hockey defeats Delaware 5-0

11:20 a.m., Oct. 17, 2005--The No. 2-ranked University of Maryland defeated the University of Delaware 5-0 in a field hockey game played Sunday afternoon in College Park, Md.

Maryland took a 2-0 lead in the first half and scored three additional goals in the second half. The Fightin’ Blue Hens had just two shots and goalkeeper Megan Allen had a career-high 18 saves.

With the loss, UD fell to 6-9 on the season. The Hens will return to action this weekend with a pair of Colonial Athletic Association games at Rullo Stadium. They will face Towson University at 7 p.m., Friday, and James Madison University at 1 p.m., Sunday.

Towson is 6-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference and James Madison is 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Hens are 1-4 in the CAA.
