Delaware’s Katie Evans completes USA play

UD’s Katie Evans helped the national field hockey team to a seventh place finish at the Women’s Junior World Cup.
9:56 a.m., Sept. 28, 2005--University of Delaware junior Katie Evans appeared in five games and scored two goals as the USA field hockey under-21 team finished in seventh place at the Women's Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile. It was the highest finish ever for the national team in Junior World Cup play.

The USA clinched seventh place with a 4-2 victory over South Africa on Sunday. Evans played in that game, and also in victories over England, Chile and Zimbabwe and in a loss to Australia. She scored two goals in the 14-0 victory over Zimbabwe.

Evans has one goal and five assists for the Fightin’ Blue Hens this season, and she is fourth all-time in career assists with 21.
