Delaware field hockey loses two in tourney 11:27 a.m., Sept. 6, 2005--The University of Delaware field hockey team fell 7-2 to Duke University and 3-2 to the University of Richmond in the weekend Blue Hen Classic tournament at Rullo Stadium. Against Duke on Saturday, UD fell behind 4-0 before freshman Erin Marihugh scored to cut the lead to three at halftime. Duke and UD then traded goals to open the second half, with junior Katie Evans scoring for the Fightin Blue Hens off assists from Amanda Warrington and Marihugh. The Blue Devils then extended their lead with two late goals. UD goalkeeper Megan Allen made a career-high 10 saves. Against Richmond on Sunday, the Hens jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the half on goals by juniors Stephanie Swain and Warrington. However, the Spiders came back with three goals in the second half for the victory. Allen made seven saves. In other games during the tournament, Ohio State University defeated Richmond 3-1 and Duke defeated Ohio State 3-1.
