Delaware’s Erin Edell second team All-Region

11:36 a.m., May 20, 2005--University of Delaware senior midfielder Erin Edell has been named second team All-Region by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Edell, who earlier was named first team All-Colonial Athletic Association, is the second UD player in the last two years to earn All-Region honors. Sophomore Jenny Diana was a second team selection last year.

Edell led the Fightin’ Blue Hens to their first postseason berth since 2001. UD went 8-8 and advanced to the CAA championship tournament semifinals.

Edell finished third on the team in scoring with 29 goals and six assists for 35 points. She appeared in all 16 games and led the team in ground balls (51), draw controls (38) and caused turnovers (19). She finished her career with 98 points and was a three-time All-CAA selection.
