Field hockey’s Burke is CAA Player of Week

9:57 a.m., Aug. 30, 2005--University of Delaware sophomore forward Molly Burke was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week after scoring two goals to help lift the Fightin’ Blue Hens to a 2-0 record with overtime victories over the University of the Pacific and the University of California.

Burke, a CAA All-Rookie Team selection last season, scored the first goal of her collegiate career in UD’s 3-2 victory over Pacific on Saturday afternoon. The following day, she scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Hens to a 2-1 victory over Cal.

Burke, who had one assist last season, leads the Hens with seven shots.
