Three Fightin’ Blue Hens receive CAA recognition

9:42 a.m., March 22, 2005--The Colonial Athletic Association has honored three University of Delaware athletes for their performances last week, with sophomore Billy Harris of the baseball team named the CAA Pitcher of the Week and freshmen Casey McCrudden of the women’s lacrosse team and Barbara Traynor of the softball team named CAA Rookies of the Week.

Harris went the distance for the Hens in his first start of the 2005 season, a 5-3 victory over the University of Maryland Baltimore County on March 16. He is one of only two UD pitchers to throw a complete game this season.

McCrudden scored three goals in UD’s 21-4 victory over Villanova University on March 16 and another two goals in a 14-7 victory over Mount St. Mary’s University. On the season, McCrudden has six goals on 19 shots.

Traynor hit .273 while starting all seven games for UD last week. She had a team-high four hits in a doubleheader sweep at the University of Pennsylvania on March 16 and hit a three-run home run in Sunday's 4-3 victory over Delaware State University.
