Delaware baseball team swept by Penn State 9:31 a.m., March 21, 2005--The University of Delaware baseball team was swept by Penn State University in a three-game weekend series played at Bob Hannah Stadium. The Fightin Blue Hens are now 7-11 on the season as they prepare to face New York Tech in a game at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, at Bob Hannah Stadium. UD will open Colonial Athletic Association play with a three-game series against Hofstra University on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 25-27, at the stadium. Against Penn State, UD fell 6-1 and 12-6 on Saturday and 7-1 on Sunday. Taking the losses for the Hens were pitchers Mike McGuire and Brent Gaphardt on Saturday and Scott Rambo on Sunday. UD outfielder Brandon Menchaca had hits in all three games, going four for 11 on the weekend. In the late game Saturday, UD shortshop Todd Davison had four hits in five trips to the plate, and designated hitter Bryan Hagerich had three hits, including a home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored.
