LaSalle home run drops Delaware baseball team

11:37 a.m., March 16, 2005--A ninth-inning home run helped LaSalle University to a 5-4 victory over the University of Delaware on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

With the loss, the Fightin’ Blue Hens fell to 6-7. It was the first victory of the season for LaSalle and the first time the Explorers had beaten UD since 1989.

The Hens will play again Wednesday afternoon, hosting the University of Maryland Baltimore County at 2:30 p.m.

Against LaSalle, UD relief pitcher Chad Kerfoot took the loss. Matt Heppner went six innings, allowing three runs, and Mitch Heckert allowed one run in two innings.

The Hens’ Kelly Buber had two hits in three trips to the plate, including a double, and third baseman Ryan Graham had two hits in four at-bats.
