Jurkowski, OBrien pace Blue Hen track teams 10:58 a.m., Jan. 10, 2005--The University of Delaware indoor track and field teams earned three first-place finishes, sweeping the mens and womens 800 meters and winning a relay event, in the Delaware Invitational held Friday night at the Delaware Field House. UD freshman Will Jurkowski won the mens 800-meter run in 1:58.92, and freshman Colleen OBrien won the womens 800-meter run in 2:24.73 and finished second in the mile run in 5:16.90. Also winning was the mens 4 x 400-meter relay team, which crossed the finish line in 3:25.50. Also for the Delaware men, Mike Yost finished second in the shot put (49-feet 1/4-inch) and the weight throw (51- feet 9 3/4-inches), and Jake Cohen finished second in the pole vault (12-feet 6-inches). Chris Dixon finished second in the 400 meters (50.50) and ran the last leg of the winning relay, and Roger Brown was second in the 60 meters (7.05). Matt Arbaugh was third in the pole vault (12-feet 6-inches), Phil Smiley was third in the 800 meters (2:01.73) and ran a leg of the winning relay, Charlie Williams was third in the 400 meters (51.31) and ran a leg of the winning relay, Hao Guan was third in the weight throw (42-feet 2 1/4-inches), and Pat Henry was third in the 200 meters (23.00) and fourth in the 60 meters (7.14). Also for the UD women, Brittany Wright finished second in the 60 meters (7.89) and third in the 200 meters (26.05), Kristen Frustillo finished second in the 200 meters (26.04) and fifth in the 60 meters (8.01) and Kate Klim finished fourth in the 3,000 meters (11:03.89). The UD track and field teams will next compete in the New York University Invitational on Friday, Jan. 14.
