Delaware tennis teams drop matches to Stetson

9:14 a.m., March 26, 2004--The University of Delaware tennis teams lost matches to host Stetson University on Thursday afternoon in Deland, Fla.

The UD men’s team lost 6-1 and the women’s team lost 7-0.

In the men's competition, UD’s Sanjay Khindri was a double winner as he downed Steton's Vittorio Fratta 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match and then teamed with John Tully to post an 8-6 win over the Stetson tandem of Fratta and Reid Stubbs in the No. 1 doubles match.

Stetson swept the five other singles matches as Christian Moe defeated Tully at No. 2, Birger Soiland defeated Adam Liebman at No. 3, Thomas Bross defeated Josh Ditman at No. 4, Mario Alberto Cayo defeated Ari Zweig at No. 5 and Brian Coyle defeated Dustin Lewis at No. 6.

In the women's competition, Stetson swept all six singles matches in straight sets and also won the three doubles matches.

The closest match for the Fightin’ Blue Hens came at No. 6 singles, where Stefanie Riddle dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Danielle Mollman.

The closest doubles match was at No. 3, where Stetson’s team of Mollman and Sophie Hartog downed Delaware's team of Liz Perlow and Katie Rose 8-3.
