Delaware men’s soccer team plays to two overtime ties

11:18 a.m., Oct. 13, 2003--The University of Delaware men’s soccer team played to a pair of double overtime ties in Colonial Athletic Association weekend action at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens tied George Mason University 1-1 on Friday and James Madison University 1-1 on Sunday.

Delaware (3-6-4 overall, 0-2-2 in CAA) takes to the road this week for games at the U.S. Naval Academy at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, and at Towson University at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19.

In the Friday match, George Mason got on the board first as Karim Manneh scored at 25:18. Delaware came back to knot the score at 1-1 in the middle of the second half when David Egosi scored at 66:46. UD goalkeeper Kyle Haynes had six saves.

In the Sunday match, James Madison scored first on a goal by Kurt Morsink at 49:15. Delaware controlled the final minutes of play and was rewarded when a kick by Haynes from midfield sailed into the goalkeeper's box and was headed home by freshman defender Matt Haney. The goal was Haney's third of the season, while the assist was the first of Haynes' career. Haynes also had six saves in the match.
