UD men’s lacrosse team defeated by Villanova

UD’s Jordan Hall scored two goals in the loss to Villanova.
10:02 a.m., April 12, 2004--After rising to No. 11 in the national rankings, the University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team fell 12-4 to Villanova University in a Colonial Athletic Association game played Saturday night before 1,200 fans at Rullo Stadium.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens (8-3 overall, 1-1 in the CAA) next face a dangerous conference rival in Towson University, which defeated Villanova 20-11. UD will meet the Tigers at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, at Towson.

In Saturday’s loss, the UD offense was held in check by Villanova and its goalkeeper, Joseph Canuso, who had 17 saves and held the Hens scoreless in the first half.

Villanova got four goals and an assist from Marc Creegan while Dan Fanelli, Matt Starker and Richie Kratz added two goals each.

Jordan Hall led UD with two goals while Ryan Metzbower had a goal and an assist. Bob Meunier also scored for the Hens.

UD goalkeeper Chris Collins stopped 15 Villanova shots.
