UD field hockeys Geib earns academic recognition
As a first team selection, Geib is eligible for the Academic All-American national ballot. The at-large team includes athletes from all sports except soccer, basketball, softball and track and field, which have their own Academic All-American teams. To be eligible, scholar-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and be a starter or key contributor to their team. District 2 includes all NCAA Division I institutions in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Geib led the nationally ranked Fightin Blue Hens to a 14-7 record and second place in the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament. She scored two goals and had six assists. A communication major with a 3.89 grade point average, Geib was named the 2003 CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year in field hockey and earned a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Team. She also was named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year.
