Julia Mis

Julia Mis, senior animal care technician, took third place (out of 55 entrants) in the research poster competition at the 2003 Tribranch Symposium of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science in Philadelphia, June 8-10. Mis’ poster, “A Novel and Cost-Effective Approach to New Zealand White Rabbit Enrichment,” describes the low-cost method she developed for calming the unusually large rabbits, thereby reducing their stress levels and reducing the time needed to extract blood. The animals are prolific producers of antibodies for medical research.
