12:45 p.m., April 11, 2003--The University of Delaware has announced that Kevin P. Linton will be the new public address announcer for Fightin’ Blue Hen football games at Delaware Stadium this fall.

Linton, 25, who will begin his new role during the annual Blue-White scrimmage on Friday evening, April 11, replaces Elbert Chance, who retired after the 2002 season.

Chance, 76, UD alumnus, a member of the University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame and a former UD alumni and sports information director, had served as the voice of Delaware Stadium since the 1953 season. He missed just five games during his 49-year tenure, one of the longest stints in college football.

Linton's voice is already familiar to Delaware basketball fans, as he has served as the public address announcer for Blue Hen men's and women's basketball games at the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center for the last three seasons.

A 1999 University of Delaware graduate with a bachelor's degree in recreation and parks administration, Linton currently serves as the assistant director of media relations for the Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball team and is in his fourth season with the club.

Prior to his stint with the Blue Rocks, the Lancaster, Pa., native served the University of Delaware athletics department as a sports information intern during the 1999-2000 academic year.
