Whereas, undergraduate research has been instrumental in the success of the UD Honors Program and has contributed to a 100 percent rate of graduate school placement for UD’s McNair Scholars, as well as to the selection of UD students as Rhodes, Truman and Marshall Scholars, and

Whereas, the UD has served as the model for undergraduate research programs at 50 other colleges and universities and UD faculty have instructed faculty from 100 universities across the U.S. and from 20 foreign nations on inquiry-based learning and undergraduate research, and

Whereas, the Reinvention Center, a national center funded by the Carnegie Foundation that focuses on undergraduate education at research universities, recently named the University of Delaware as the model for undergraduate research and problem-based learning, and recognized it along with only Princeton, Stanford and Berkeley as exemplifying best practices in the successful engagement of undergraduates at research universities,

Resolved, that the Trustees do commend the University’s faculty and students on achieving the highest standard of accomplishment in undergraduate research and discovery learning and on the recognition of this achievement as a national standard to be emulated by research universities throughout America.
