Public memorial event at The Bob will affect South Campus
The University of Delaware will host a Celebration of Life for U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Chris Slutman at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at the Bob Carpenter Center.
In anticipation of this event, several parking and transportation changes will affect South Campus:
- Lots 88 (Delaware Field House/Delaware Stadium), 105 (Bob Carpenter Center front) and 106 (Bob Carpenter Center rear) will be reserved from midnight-4 p.m.
- Vehicles parked in Lot 1 (Ice Arena) should expect heavy traffic sporadically from noon-4 p.m.
- Red permit holders who normally park on South Campus should park at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus South lot or lot 2 (Townsend Hall). Appropriate signage will be posted that day to assist drivers. Motorists are asked not to park in the STAR Campus front lots.
To ensure proper transportation to those temporarily parking at STAR Campus, all shuttle bus routes that serve South Campus will include STAR South lot on Wednesday, May 1. University shuttle buses will not stop at the Delaware Field House until after 4 p.m. that day, and riders are asked to use the STAR South or UDairy Creamery stops.
“The Bob Carpenter Convocation Center, Parking and Transportation Services thank you in advance for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience,” a representative said.
