Frequently Asked Questions

This information will continuously be updated as more details become available.

The priority deadline for the 2024-2025 graduate housing application is Monday, July 1, 2024 at 5pm. The application will remain open until spaces are filled.

Housing for graduate students is not guaranteed.

Our ability to guarantee housing for graduate students will be dependent upon the number of applications received. If the number of applications exceeds the available spaces, we will give priority to first-time students arriving this fall and distance from campus of the permanent address on record for students, giving priority to students who live the furthest distance.

Housing is only available for individual students. We do not have housing for students with partners/families. If a graduate student has a partner/spouse who is also a new graduate student, we will do our best to house them together, but each space is billed per person.

Graduate students will be housed in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment located in our University Courtyard Apartment building 600. A diagram of the apartment is also available.

The location is 600 Scholar Drive, Newark, DE 19711

Each apartment contains basic furniture but does not include items like linens or kitchen ware. Individual housing for residents includes the following furniture:

  • Bedroom Furniture: a full-sized bed, a desk with chair, a dresser and a walk-in closet

  • Living Room Furniture:  couch, chair and coffee table

  • Kitchen Furniture: two counter-height stools

  • Overhead lighting is in each room and all windows have blinds.

  • Bathrooms have a shower curtain rod and a heavy-duty plastic liner.

  • Full-sized appliances including a washer, dryer, refrigerator, oven/range, dishwasher and a microwave.

The monthly price is expected to be approximately $1,100 per month per person.

The following utilities are included in the rent: electric, heating, cooling (air conditioning), water and internet (wi-fi).

Parking is not included but ample parking is available near the building and individual parking permits can be purchased through University of Delaware Parking Services.

Notices will be sent to students via email to their @udel.edu email address on a rolling basis.

Students who are guaranteed housing will have three business days to decline housing without fee. After three business days, guaranteed students will be subject to release fees if their request for release is approved. Release is not guaranteed.

Students will have three contract start/move-in date options:

  • Monday, July 15, 2024
  • Saturday, July 27, 2024
  • Thursday, August 15, 2024

Students will be billed based on the move contract start date that is on or before their move-in date. For example, if a student moves in on July 20, they will be billed beginning July 15.

Students are billed on the first of the month to the student’s UD financial account.

Students who select a July 15 or July 27 contract start will be billed on August 1, 2024 for July and August.

Students who select the August 15 contract start will be billed on September 1, 2024 for August and September.

Housing ends on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Students will not be permitted to renew and will need to move out on or before June 1, 2025.

Students have continuous access to their space from the first date of their contract until the end of the contract. There’s no need to move out of your apartment during breaks or Winter Session.

Yes, even if a student is not staying during Winter Session, rent is still owed as this is a continuous contract.

There is a space in the housing application to request a roommate. Roommates are not guaranteed and your requested roommate must also request you in their housing application.
