Offer a three to five-week internship during UD’s winter term, when over 60% of UD students are available for full or part-time experiences throughout the country.   The experience will help to expose a student to a career area of interest and will provide you with an eager intern to assist with projects for the month.   Click here to find out more.

Offered over Winter Term & Summer, our job shadowing program allows students to learn more about various professions, receive career-related advice, and reflect on the ways in which their education can prepare them for life after college. The Career Center organizes bus trips to employers within a 90-minute radius of UD’s campus.  Expose 20 to 50 students to your workplace by offering a tour, presenting on your operations and employment opportunities, and connecting students with colleagues, UD alumni and UD parents in the office.  For details contact Lynn Sydnor-Epps, Associate Director for Employer Relations, lynnepps@udel.edu,  (302) 831-3159.

Spend a full or half-day on campus meeting with students individually and/or in group sessions to share your career advice and expertise. • Engage Early and Often with the Career Center – According to a recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, students who are frequent users of the Career Center are much more likely to have job offers by graduation.  During the first year we help students begin to work on a career preparation strategy, write their first resume, assess career and major options, and begin to form connections with employers and alumni.

• Manage Professional and Personal Brand – A current resume and strong LinkedIn profile are important for when students begin to make connections with employers, alumni and other professionals.  We are also in a culture where employers frequently check students’ public social media accounts.

• Secure Internship Experiences – Employers value internship experience over all other criteria  when assessing candidates for positions.  A minimum of one internship experience is now the norm, and is expected by employers recruiting students for full-time positions.  Students can work with the Career Center and academic departments to locate both summer and academic year internship experiences.

• Make Connections – UD students have the opportunity to make hundreds of connections during their time at the university.  On-campus speakers, employer programs and alumni networking events all offer opportunities to learn about career fields, gain advice and open doors to internships and jobs.

• Be Comfortable with Change  – New jobs and industries are created on a yearly basis, and the skills and knowledge needed to succeed constantly evolve as students progress through their time at UD and beyond.  In an ever-changing world, students must keep an open mind and look for new opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

• Take Ownership of the Career Preparation Process –Students have access to a wide variety of resources, contacts and services through the Career Center and other offices at UD.  They will learn about our services through email communications, referrals from faculty and staff, print materials, and classroom and student organization presentations, but students have a responsibility to engage in the career development and preparation process.  When they do, they will find a dedicated group of professionals who are eager to help them develop and achieve their professional aspirations!

Master's level career counselors will help your student to develop and achieve their professional aspirations through one-on-one appointments. Your student can schedule an appointment through their Handshake account.

The Career Center offers online resources, career assessments, experiential opportunities, and connections with alumni to help students explore and assess career paths.

The Career Center works with students to write resumes and cover letters, build a network of employers and alumni, prepare for interviews and manage an internship or job search.

Close to 25% of undergraduates will continue their education immediately after graduation from UD.  Career Counselors can help students assess graduate school motivations and options.  UD faculty and the Center for Health Profession Studies are also excellent resources.

The Career Center organizes hundreds of career programs and employer events per year.  Review our events calendar and career fair schedule.

The Career Center works with over 3000 employers per year who are recruiting through UD for internships and post-UD employment.  Your student can engage with these employers through our recruiting system, Handshake, at career fairs and meetups, and through on-campus information sessions. 

The Blue Hen Network goes out of its way to support the career preparation of current students.  Students can meet with alumni through the Winter Term Job Shadow program and gain advice and connections through networking events and career panels.
