Visitor and Guest Access to UDelNet Resources

Access to UD's campus network (UDelNet) and UDelNet connections to the internet are restricted to computers and internet-capable devices registered by UD students, employees, registered employee spouses, and some other members of the UD community. However, campus visitors and sponsored guests can gain access to the internet through the University's network.

  • Visitors to campus can use the UDel_Guest Wi-Fi network. Visitors can register themselves for network access, then temporary credentials are sent to the visitor's email account or smartphone.
  • Frequent visitors to campus can self-register for Wi-Fi network access for 1 year through the ANYROAM service. Prior to visiting campus, or on the Guest Wi-Fi, or via Cellular, the visitor can install a 1-year certificate for the "eduroam" Wi-Fi network by registering via https://www.anyroam.net.
  • A University employee can sponsor a guest's access to UD's Wi-Fi network (e.g., a visiting scholar, contractor, or other visitor) for up to 1 year. The employee is responsible for the guest's use of the network.
  • A University employee can sponsor a guest's access to UD's wired network (e.g., a visiting scholar, contractor, or other visitor) for up to 60 days. The employee is responsible for the guest's use of the network.
  • Long term access: a University department can sponsor a guest's use of a UDelNet ID and use of UDelNet and other UD resources (e.g., a visiting scholar, contractor, vendor, or research collaborator). The sponsoring department is responsible for the guest's use of the network.
  • A University faculty member with a Canvas course can request guest access for off-campus participants.
  • Departmental IT staff can request temporary VPN access for vendors and other guests.
